Böttger, Johann Friedrich
* 4. 2. 1682 Schleiz, † 13. 3. 1719 Dresden
German alchemist, he succeeded in 1707 in Dresden, the production of the eponymous Böttger Stoneware and 1708 with EW of Tschirnhausen of European hard-paste porcelain. Until his death Böttger was head of the Meissen Porcelain Manufactory. In the so-called there since about 1715 produced in the Böttger period.
